In contrast to the Ah-nyeint, the Zat performance is more elaborate. It often begins around 8p.m and ends at dawn the next day. The "theatres" has a temporary structure of bamboo and matting, set up in an empty field close to the pagoda.

If audiences seat on the seats closing up against the stage, they can present the handsome male leading dancer with garlands of flowers. By tradition, his face is made up like a showgirl’s, complete with false eyelashes, eye shadow and lipstick but he is still attractive to the women fans.
