Puppetry is the most popular and interesting show in Myanmar arts and culture. The expert manipulators will control puppets. They also converse and joke the humorous stories through their puppet show to the delight of the audience. Usually, at least four manipulators take responsibility in a show. They use handling rods and strings at the back of the curtain and give voice to the puppets.

Puppets are beautifully dressed in lavish embellishment with gilded materials and semi precious gems, depends on characters. Coming to Myanmar, travelers can enjoy puppet shows at pagoda festival. Marionatte theatre is now mostly confined to tourists’ venues in Yangon, Mandalay and Bagan.
